Free App to Clone, Erase, and Backup Drives with CLI Support

MultiDrive is an entirely free app from Atola Technology (yes, that’s my company). We launched it in April and shipped a major update in July to support damaged drives and loose cable connections.

What I am sharing today is real-world use cases when MultiDrive can help you out.

Clone one drive to another

It helps when you:

• upgrade your drive to a newer one
• create a full backup of your drive
• clone data from your failing drive with bad sectors
• use etalon drive to make copies for your teammates

Erase drives

It helps when you:

• securely wipe the whole drive space before sale or disposal
• erase many drives simultaneously
• accurately wipe out all the bytes of a single partition at your drive

Backup all your data

It helps when you:

• back up your important USB stick
• simply backup your SSD but store it the compressed format (ZIP) to save space
• easily restore your backup in case of OS crash or disk failure

Example:
You can see a running backup process of a failing drive to ZIP file:
- 18.8 GB is copied and compressed into 171 MB of resulting ZIP file
- 3 source drive read errors

CLI app is powerful and covers all features of GUI app. It helps when you:

• run daily disk backup operations
• recreate testing environements
• migrate your employees to newer hardware, upgrading storage
